Financial Modelling Programme

Building financial models isn't about memorising formulas. It's about thinking through problems, understanding what the numbers actually mean, and presenting insights that help people make better decisions. This programme runs from September 2025 through March 2026 and focuses on practical application rather than theoretical exercises.

What You'll Actually Learn

We've organised the programme into five modules that build on each other. Each one addresses specific challenges you'll encounter when building models in real situations.

Foundations and Structure

Building models that others can use

6 weeks
  • Setting up workbooks that don't break when assumptions change
  • Creating clear input sections that non-financial people can understand
  • Documenting your logic so you remember what you did six months later
  • Common mistakes that cause models to give wrong answers

Financial Statement Integration

Making the three statements work together

5 weeks
  • Connecting income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow properly
  • Working through circular references without breaking everything
  • Modelling working capital changes that actually make sense
  • Handling depreciation, amortisation, and deferred tax

Scenario Planning

Building flexibility into your models

6 weeks
  • Creating base, optimistic, and conservative scenarios
  • Sensitivity analysis that highlights what really matters
  • Using data tables and scenario managers effectively
  • Presenting ranges of outcomes rather than single predictions

Valuation Methods

Determining what businesses might be worth

6 weeks
  • DCF models that people can follow and challenge
  • Comparable company analysis and when it's useful
  • Understanding WACC and what goes into discount rates
  • Terminal values and why they matter more than you think

Presentation and Communication

Making your work understandable

5 weeks
  • Dashboard design that highlights key insights
  • Creating charts that support your narrative
  • Explaining assumptions and limitations clearly
  • Preparing materials for different audiences

Three Ways to Approach the Programme

People learn differently and have different schedules. We've designed three pathways that all cover the same material but with varying levels of structure and interaction.

1

Self-Paced Track

Access all materials immediately and work through them on your own schedule. Includes recorded sessions, practice files, and written guides.

  • Complete flexibility with timing
  • All content available from day one
  • Email support within 48 hours
  • Ideal for experienced professionals
2

Guided Cohort

Join a group that moves through the material together with weekly live sessions. More structure and regular interaction with instructors.

  • Weekly live sessions on Tuesdays
  • Group discussions and peer feedback
  • Direct instructor access during sessions
  • Suits those who prefer structure
3

Intensive Format

Accelerated schedule with twice-weekly sessions and more direct feedback on your work. Requires consistent availability but provides deeper engagement.

  • Sessions Tuesday and Thursday evenings
  • Detailed feedback on practice work
  • Smaller group size for discussion
  • Complete in 14 weeks instead of 28

Support Throughout the Programme

Owen Bradshaw and the instruction team are available to help when you get stuck. We know financial modelling involves moments where nothing seems to work and you can't figure out why your model won't balance.
